WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO OPEN A GYM?

OPEX Fitness CEO Jim Crowell Answers

Rather than discuss the ‘best’ time to become a gym owner, we first need to discuss when it’s not good idea. Because, quite frankly, there are a lot of people in this industry who have no business owning a gym. No pun intended.

Don’t OPEN A Gym If:

-You can’t make money as a coach

– You just graduated college

– You don’t know how to operate a business

– You can’t differentiate your services to the market (https://opexfit.com/blog/market-or-die/ )

Now that we’ve covered our bases, here are some signs that you may be ready to open up your own gym!

OPEN a Gym if:

  • Your service offering is unique

  • You can create systems of consistency

  • You understand how to market your business

You need to understand why you should own a business.

Why is your business adding value to people in your community? If you can’t answer that, you’re not ready.

Once you discover your answer, build systems around that value to deliver it to your customers. This is what constitutes your ‘brand’ or message to the market. Until your willing to build that message consistently, you’re not ready to be a gym owner.
