Opens 2016 —17th (9months w/ OPEX) –Regional 2016– 43th place
The training plan last year emphasized Dustin being able express his fitness potential for 5 weeks in the 2016 Opens.
Now that he has broken the barrier of entry to get to Regionals, the focus this season is to upgrade his “Regional Potential” in order to be more competitive during a Regional 3 day format.
After Regionals we sat down and outlined a skeleton for the year.
Priorities in June/July:
structural balance; upper & lower, Single arm + Single Leg Work
Increase time under tension in compound movements
Core bracing enhancement
Snatch & CJ build
Example of first 2 weeks skeleton: progression determined on on adatptation
Monday AM- longe aerobic effort –building PM- Snatch Pos + Squat + SA upper + Incremental map
Tuesday AM–Row repeats 500’s –build PM– Long aerobic mixed
Wednesday AM: long aerobic mixed PM- CJ (Jerk) work + SL + ME
Thursday rest
Friday AM: HIke long effort PM- Snatch + Squat+ Upper push+ ME x2
Saturday AM- Upper Abs strength + ME + CF grind
Sunday rest
After this training block Dustin completed a 3 day test phase with a 4 days reload. The results speak form themselves in what he was able to achieve in this testing phase. Dustin is coached by OPEX HQ Head Coach Robin Lyons.
