“The importance of an athlete’s routine is essentially to set up their day in terms of the correct rise and energy, the right processes like digestion, the right hormones to be activated all at the right time. What we want to see is that you create this ritual to allow consistent rhythm for the athlete throughout the day. That being said, there’s a couple things that we can recommend. What something I highly recommend to athletes is doing about 12-16 ounces of water first thing upon waking, a quarter teaspoon of Himalayan sea salt, and a half a squeeze lemon. There’s a lot of reasons why that’s beneficial. One of them is to kickstart digestion. It’s also to control stress hormones as well as just bring in hydration first thing upon waking.”
